This chapter opens with a description of the blood phantom snake. The snake is so close to the protagonist that he can barely notice it. The protagonist is overcome with fear of the snake's attack. He devours the snake and moves on to the next target. This time, however, the snake is too close to him to notice him. He realizes that he has come to find a way to live. He opens a cave to try his hand at the dark water art. The creator of this art, he says, did not live long enough to cultivate this art. This is a skill he has cultivated in the past, but it is a dead end. He asks if there is anything valuable in the ring. The ring is a spiritual weapon, and the protagonist says that even a martial master cannot find him with the hidden pattern. He tells the protagonist to wait and see. He has completed the first phase of fire-eating art, and he will take the protagonist's head right now. He says that he will kill the protagonist one by one if he does not show himself. If the protagonist shows himself, he will be cut off first. He will then show the protagonist what trash can do to him.
