In this chapter, we learn that "brother bone drill" has been thrown into the garbage heap by "flamestream" . We learn that he's now a member of the "eight black divergent servants" , which means that "he" is now a "official member" of the group. We also learn that the guy who was supposed to be waiting for "little black" at the bottom of the stairs is now waiting at the top of the staircase for "black-eyed rock," who is supposed to wait at the "old place" for "begonia." The guy who's waiting at "the old place" is "white," and the guy at the other end is "black eyed rock." They're supposed to go to the "new place" and wait for "brother little black" to show up. White says he'll wait for him there, but "black - eyed rock" says he wants to wait for the guy "at the old place." The two of them argue about whether or not they're going to stand "right" together. White points out that "all people" wear their hearts on their sleeves, and "he has no room at all" for little schemes. He's the "most difficult to see" among the eight black-eyed servants, he says, because he maintains a "certain distance" from everyone else.
