The rustle of the bush is so strong that it's hard to tell what it is doing, but it seems to be alive and well. It's a good thing that they don't run away from it, because otherwise they'd be in trouble. The rustle is not a "beast spirit" , but a "scent of death" . They can't figure out what the rustle is trying to teach them, but they do know that they're risking their lives to protect the bush. They're going to sacrifice themselves for the sake of protecting the bush, and they'll do it in a way that pleases them both.
