The landlord's room smells like a tiger's den. The smell is so strong that it scares the living daylights out of the protagonist. He can't figure out how the landlord could have so many dogs and cats, but he can figure out the secret formula for making a wool mat. The protagonist thinks that the landlord must have some kind of secret in his closet, because the furniture in the room is in poor condition. He wonders if the landlord is just a thief, and wonders why he chose to live in this house, since he would have to pay for one meal. He also wonders if he should open the closet up for a closer look, since the landlord doesn't mind him taking a look in his wardrobe. He says that he helped the landlord catch a thief and wonders if such amateurs still want to steal his business. He thinks that it's thanks to the two idiots that he was able to get a hint from the landlord that he has a secret formula. He tells the protagonist to be quiet, because he'll send him a truckload of food tomorrow.
