About This Chapter
The young woman is in the middle of an argument with the rich man over rent. The rich man insists that she pay him one thousand dollars a month, but the young woman protests that she doesn't need to pay him that much money. The wealthy man argues that he's a "man of principles" and that he can easily change his mind about money if he wants to. The woman protests again, saying that she can't afford to pay a man that much, and the wealthy man responds by saying that they've come up with an agreement. The millionaire argues that this is convenient, since he'll be able to pay the rent when it's due, and he can also save time by giving the woman change instead of having to wait around for change to come in. The poor woman protests, saying she's thirsty and that the man is polite, but she'd rather have some iced water. The girl exclaims that she has the power to be rich, and that with a "snap of her fingers" she can "possess the legendary power" of money. She's so excited that she wants to move her luggage into her new digs. She wants to know why the place is so noisy outside, and why all of the luggage is piled up in the bushes. She wonders if the place can withstand the weight of so much luggage, and she wonders if it would be a good idea to give it a simple touch-up, since the place isn't suited
