The protagonist is a strapping lad who wants to watch "palace intrigue dramas" . The protagonist explains that he has a hard drive full of pirated movies, but he doesn't want to watch them because his cat is addicted to watching them. He tells the protagonist not to worry, because he's got his "private stash" of movies that he hasn't finished watching yet. He explains that his cat has become addicted to the latest drama, and she's starting to get angry when she sees ads on the screen. This is the first time that the protagonist has heard that a cat like to watch a drama. He says that he'll go to find a room for his cat, but first he wants to talk to the editor of a pet magazine. The editor comes in and introduces himself as Mr. Wen-Qing, and the protagonist is delighted to see that there are so many pets in his house. He wants to pretend to be a normal dog so that he can talk with the editor. The owner of the pet magazine, Mr. Jiao, wants to hire the protagonist's cat as a model for the magazine. He's an electrician, so the cat isn't "ordinary beings" , but is supposed to be "hidden." The protagonist says that since it's the cat that's getting the job offer, he'd better accept.
