Eight years have passed since Lanzi brought his family and 400 craftsmen from the capital to his new home. He explains that the place is actually a deserted and isolated place, where he could build his mausoleum. Lanzi's wife is sick, and he can't find her, so he asks his uncle to take medicine. The uncle tells Lanzi that his brother, the emperor, has put on an array of traps to block the flow of dragon blood, but Lanzi points out that this is a waste of the power of the dragon. Since Lanzi is already in the cage, he's ready to enjoy his life. Uncle Lanzi says that the emperor should know his brother well, since the current emperor put on the trap to flaunt his power. The emperor, he says, should know that he is blessed by the god and has the power to rule. He suggests that Lanzi and his family prepare to live permanently in their new home, since they're already there. The current emperor has eased the trap on his wife's power, and Lanzi explains that his wife is now in an open period, in which she can open a new blood vein to increase her power.
