In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of characters who have been introduced in the previous chapters. The first of these characters is the mother of the protagonist, who is described as a woman of "highness" and a "step step" . We learn that the protagonist's mother has been divorced from her husband and that she has been living in the country of Mongolia. The protagonist is shocked to learn that his mother is not a member of the royal family. He is also shocked when he learns that her mother is the sister of the witch of the snake. He also learns that the witch's sister is pregnant and that the princess is pregnant.
