It's an "unprecedented book" that records astronomy, geography, and witchcraft stories systematically . We learn that bran is working on a book that will be published by the royal family. We also learn that he's trying to convince charlie that he needs to steal the book before he can get it. He asks if anyone allowed him to come in wearing a mask, and charlie says no. He says that he has an abscess on his face that needs to be removed, and he wants to be allowed to wear the mask in class. He tells us that the doctor told him that if he was exposed to air, he would rot, and if he were exposed to infection, he'd rot. He also says that his face is infected with boohoo abscesses, so he'll need to remove the mask. He then asks if he can start acting like a student, so that he won't get in trouble if he doesn't do what he says. The doctor said that he was always lenient if he didn't believe him, so it's likely that he wouldn't be contagious to other students. He
