About This Chapter
In this short scene, the Duke's chamberlain tries to calm the Duke down. He tells the Duke that he is fine and that diplomacy is important. The Duke, however, is impatient. He feels like he is forgetting something important. He asks the chamberlain if he is sure he is okay. The chamberlain assures him that he will be fine. He says that he has never felt anxious before, but this is a new experience. He wonders if the visions are coming from the palace garden. He wants to know if they come from the garden or from the balcony. He smirks and says that the immorality of the kingdom is thrilling. Everyone resists at first but they always ask for it. He slaps his hands and says who the hell is he? He says he has no idea who he is and that he cannot promise what he will do with his sword. He calls him a prince and asks if he thinks he will get out of the situation alive. He then asks him his name and status. He explains that he does not have a choice since the royalty is royalty. He adds that he can do nothing about it since it is a status based society. He also says he is the first Prince's fiance, which is a reference to the fact that the first prince is the fiance of the Duke. He reminds the Duke of what happened the day before and asks him to prepare himself for the situation. He sighs that he would be glad to see his brother in law, but he says that his ability to adapt to change is scary. He puts on his cloak and asks for help. He realizes that the Duke is the son of the duke and that it would be a shame for him to be stuck in a royal
