In this short scene, Ren tells his uncle that he has decided to stay in America for a while. He tells Ren that he will return the clothes that he left for her at the beginning of the chapter. Ren tells him that his uncle has asked him to take a leave of absence from home for a few days so that he can visit with his father. Ren asks if there is anything he can do to help him, and Ren says there is. Ren is surprised to find that he is in such a daze that he does not know what he is doing. He asks Ren if he has had a drink, and she says that she has not, but that she will come back when she is upset
