In this chapter, the narrator describes the strange death of a young man named Sadikin. Sadikin's neighbors are talking about his strange death, and the narrator is glad that the news of the earthquake in Japan has drowned out all of the talk of the weird death. Sadkin's family sells his house, and his neighbors perform a prayer for the dead man's house and street lamp. The narrator still gets goosebumps every time he sees a street lamp, but he doesn't know why.
