About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that this story is inspired by real events. It's about an "online taxi" service that's been going around the area, and the narrator is one of the first victims of the service. He's on his way to get a cab when he runs into the narrator's friend, a "guinea januari" . The two of them have a conversation about the service and the creepy driver. The narrator says that he's going to order a cab from the get-car service, but before he does, he asks the friend if it's okay if he leaves early. The friend says that it would be okay if she leaves early, but she'll have to wait for the driver to show up. The driver shows up, but the narrator doesn't want to wait, so she cancels the order. She tells the driver that she's almost there, but that the car stopped in front of her and the driver didn't open his window. She's not sure why the driver recognized her, but he did. The car is quiet and calm inside, and she can't imagine what it must be like to be there. She asks the driver if there's anything urgent, and he says that everything is okay.
