The chapter opens with a conversation between Mishima and his brother. Mishima says that the year has come to a close, and that he feels that it has been a good one. He says that his brother has been freaking out about the disappearance of Mishima, and Mishima asks Mishima if she has been following Mishima around in the park, or if Mishima has missed the spring picnic that Mishima was supposed to have planned. She says that she has, but Mishima doesn't understand why Mishima is so blind to Mishima's love for him, and he says that he'll see Mishima again next year, when Mishima will be back at school. He tells Mishima to go to the bathroom, because the smell of sour milk in the bathroom makes Mishima feel like he's in a bad situation, and the bathroom is clean and comfortable. When Mishima tells him to leave, Mishima goes to the table, where he says he fell asleep and woke up at 1 a.m. He's happy to see his friends, and it makes him happy to be able to cheer Mishima up, because she's one of those people he likes, too.
