In this chapter, the narrator reflects on the changes that have occurred in his life since he met haru. He realizes that he has no way to manage all of these changes, and he decides to cut back on his studies. He calls on his friend, mitty, to ask her about the midterm exams, and she tells him that she will be studying with haru that day. The narrator is worried that haru is acting like a "shizuku" , and that she is waiting for something to happen between him and her. He tells his friend that he does not have feelings for haru right now, but that he can see that they are different from each other. He says that he wants to return to junior high school, but he has been avoiding the other students in class 1 because he is expecting too much from them. He feels that he was too late, and now that he is back in class, he feels like he is being too late. He asks haru to listen to him and not to act like a baby when he is with yoshida. .
