About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a conversation between Hiroshi and Mizutani, who are on vacation in the mountains. Hiroshi complains that he has not been able to catch any fish and that he does not want to go to the inn with them because the women do not work there. He also complains about the fact that they have not called his sister, who has not yet come to the mountain stream to fish with them. He tells them that his sister has gone upstream by herself, and he will go to her and ask her if she has come to fish. He then tells them the best way to catch fish, which is to boo-buff four or five grasshoppers at a time. He asks if he can wash the pot, and they agree to do so. They then talk about the man who took the money from Mitchan, and how he ran away, and Hiroshi says that he is glad the man has friends, because he has convinced him to go back to school. They talk about how they have some melons at their place, and then Hiroshi asks if they can tell him why the man ran away. He says he will learn the man's secrets when he is ready to tell him.
