The next morning, Hiroshi and Tomo prepare to leave for their new jobs. Hiroshi asks Tomo what he's been up to. Tomo tells him that he hasn't talked to anyone about the incident with Toshiro. When Tomo asks what Hiroshi is talking about, Tomo says that he was talking about jumping at shadows when they were kids. He doesn't know how to respond to Hiroshi's question, but he does know that Hiroshi has been trying to silence him. He tells Tomo to stop lying, and to get his act together. He's not lying, he says, and he never did anything wrong. He says that things turned out the way they did, and that he blames himself for it. He apologizes, but Hiroshi will have to walk all the way back to his own house.
