Chapter 10 opens with a soliloquy by hair-make shida, in which he explains that he knows that his friend is planning to commit suicide. He tells his friend that he will not let him commit suicide until he saves up another seven-and-a-half million yen. He also tells him that his mother is not at home, and that he has taken a bath and gotten her to go out with him. He says that he never imagined that her life would be so normal, and he wonders why he is imagining such a thing. He wonders if the article about his friend's suicide was published on a community site, and wonders if this is because of the fact that community sites are now being used in so many ways.
