In the midst of the fight, Volger asks Volger why he didn't just grab the bag of gold and run away. Volger tells him that he was trying to help him out and expose the "liar's true colors" , but he doesn't think it's too risky to spend money like this. He's surprised that Volger knows how to use magic tricks, and he thinks that men should be able to do whatever they want with their lives.
