The chapter opens with a teary-eyed graduation ceremony. The narrator tells us that he's done with the script for the ceremony and is ready to go home. He's happy to see his mom, who's bummed that he didn't get to go to the ceremony with her. He tells her he'll be at the party for the teachers that night and promises to make her happy. He also tells her that he won't give up on his crush, ranmaru. He doesn't want him to get away with anything, he says. He thanks his mom for three years of hard work and tells her she's made it to her "grauda tion" . He asks her if she'd like him to work for her in the city. She says she'll, and he thanks her for giving him the chance. He then tells her to come to the party and see him. He says he'd love to play with his son, but his mom wouldn't allow him to go out with him. She tells him to come and see her, but he says he has to go back to school. He wants to give his all to his mom.
