In this chapter, we are introduced to our protagonist's big sister, who is writing "erotic novels" for her family's sake. The protagonist, however, is not sure he will be able to attend the party she has planned for him and his family because of his "bad personality" and his "sharp tongue." He tells his sister that he will make her a cake to celebrate her birthday, but he also tells her that she should invite her friends since her birthday is coming up next week. He tells her to invite her mother since she is the only person he can't invite to the party. He then tells his brother that he has to do something for his mother before she leaves for home, and he is sorry that he had to do it before her departure. He asks his brother if he wants to play cards with the other boys, and when they refuse, he tells them that he is going to spend the night for them.
