The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Hiroshi. He tells the story of how he and his sister, shina, were kissing the night before, and how he gave his sister a gold present. He also tells her that he's going to be away for two weeks, and she's excited about it. She tells him that she doesn't want to worry about him anymore, and that she'll be back soon. She also tells him about the story she wrote about Ranmaru, which was based on one of his stories. He's pretty into her, she tells him, and he says that he can't stop writing about her. He says that his mom wouldn't approve of it either, because he thinks he can do whatever he wants. She says that they need to figure out a way to move forward, because they're not going to write about this anymore. They eat fried rice instead of fried rice, and the narrator says that the fried rice is different than usual. He asks if they'll have dinner later that night, and they say yes. The narrator is shocked that they didn't have dinner earlier that day. He thinks they blew it, and says that Ranmaru should have quit while he was ahead. He goes on to say that he has received complaints about his writing in the past, and has had a number of claims filed against him, but that he hasn't been able to do anything about it because he was hoping for something better than this. He is jealous that his sister has a man who thinks her worth is more important than his own. He wonders if Ranmaru will be able to move on with his writing, but says that she shouldn't be ashamed of her novels.
