In this chapter, we learn that the ghost writer, Enoshima, is working on a movie version of Sayuri's "Salmon" . Enoshima tells us that he's been sexually harassed by his employer, Tamura, and that he wants to see Tamura himself. Tamura asks Enoshima if he can find out what's going on with her father's family, and Enoshima says that he doesn't know. He's leaving the next day to shoot a story for the newspaper, and he has two days before he leaves to do it. He wants to talk to Tamura about her father, and she tells him that she was his mistress. She says that she's sorry, but that it would be hard on her mother if her father found out.
