This chapter opens with a conversation between Hiroshi and Ren. Hiroshi asks Ren what she's planning to do with the characters she chooses. Ren tells him that he's going to have to pick a name for one of the girls on the girls' basketball team. He's worried about what the future will hold for him, and he wants to make sure that he doesn't get into trouble. He tells Ren that he has to pick the name for the girl, and Ren is the only person he can turn to for advice. She's the only one who can help him get the name of the girl on the team, and she'll be the one to tell the girls about it the next day. Ren is shocked that Hiroshi is so straight forward, but she tells him it's because she had so many problems in school that she didn't know how to deal with them. She asks him if he thinks things are going to get worse before they get better. He says they're going to finish the game early the next morning, and then he'll go see Ren to ask her to marry him.
