About This Chapter
Back in the present, Petp1 asks to be let out of the house by a curse goddess. She tells him to find the light, steady, non-fast movements, and not to lose his mind. He tells Petp2 to wake him up. He says that he feels like his skin is peeling away, and that he has never seen anything like it before. He begs Petp to stop screaming, and to come back to himself. He wants to die, he says, but he knows that it is the fault of the humans. He reminds Petp that he once said he would kill himself if he were to end up in the same nightmare again. The curse goddess tells him that he must have known the witches were coming, but that he is weak from what he did in Pontus. She reminds him that his gift is coming, and he should not take it for granted. She warns him not to take all of the good leaves of his sister's garden and kill himself.
