About This Chapter
The halfwolf tells his wife that they made a vow to be new, and that they never told her that they were old. He tells her that he heard there are still ships outside of ravenna, and he fears that they will be destroyed by the other ships. He asks her to calm him down, and she agrees. She tells him that she wants to know why the halfwolf is breaking the world. He says that he is breaking it so that he might take power, but it is for your benefit, as well, and yet the most vulnerable of your enemies is endless. She asks him what happened to the cannisters. He replies that the plan would not have been affected by the blood and light of the light. He adds that they are the joke of the federation. They are loyal, he says, and they cannot afford him to be ill. They must get away from each other. She says that she will eat his soul if he does not leave them. She adds that she has made some "adjustments" to herself, and so the difference between them is that he believes he is brilliant. She thinks that the mask is why they cannot be reassembled in this world. They both prefer their prisons to a "life of freedom," but she and he are not afraid. They do not want the mask, she says, because they thought they had killed her. They lied to the ferryman, the ren, and the wolf queen. She could have won the war by herself, but she waited too long, and now she is angry. She wonders why he could not have just said he wanted to kill her. He wonders if he could have helped her, but he knows that it would have been impossible for him to have been born without him. He wishes that he had never left. He knows that he would have never been born if he had not been born. He is angry that he did not have the opportunity to help her.
