In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the manic-hazelian warrior, who has just returned from a battle with the "monster" from the previous chapter. We learn that he has been wounded in the arm by the monster, and that his wound was caused by the blade that the monster had cut through his arm. The monster, who is now called the "dead body of someone from a manic-haeism," has returned to the scene of the previous battle, and we learn that it is the corpse of a man who was killed in the battle.
