The pirate girl tells her brothers that she is stranded in their kingdom and that she has devised a system whereby one can borrow books from her in exchange for small sums of money. She tells them that when she set out for her quest she thought her knowledge would be sufficient to get her where she wanted to go, but she was wrong. The boy she was telling her about is the kitchen boy, and she tells him that she wants to join him and his crew. He tells her that she looks like a lady and that he is a boy. She says that she does need a boy to do her chores like a boy, even if he is not a boy in the kitchen. He says that he will chop chop to earn his way by working or going the Captain is scary. The girl tells the boy that she was not invited to a girl's night because she was a boy and that the boy did not want to be casta as a girl. She then tells him about the boy she met on the deck and the boy's reaction when he saw her. He asks her why she was there and she says that her papa was happy to see her and that when they go back they will tell him that they are surprised to see him and that they will give him her book back. The pirate tells her to wake up and tell him why she is there. He will give her his book back, but if she were a stray cat she would not be him. He then asks her to tell him what happened to the kiss on deck rule. She replies that if she weren't a cat she wouldn't have been a pirate. She asks her children to put polish on her book so that it will hide in plain sight. They are having a good time and are having so much fun that they don't realize that kane is not going to return the books to her. She wants to take the baby away so that she can have one that calls her mama instead. She also wants to share the pillow with her children so that they won't talk to each other all the time. When she realizes that the pirate girl is actually a girl, she tells her brother that she will take good care of him.
