About This Chapter
Finn and Cosimo have reached the coast of Norway, and Finn is excited to be there. He's not worried about the weather, though: he's an islandr from the south, so it's going to be cold, cold, and white by the time they get to the coast. But he is worried about his old friend, the pirate balthazar, who looks like a "angel" to him. He wants to know why he didn't just leave him alone. He also wants to ask why he wasn't more concerned about saving the pirate's life, instead of wasting his time trying to find his way back to the ship. When he hears that the pirate is planning a mutiny, he doesn't want to be a part of it. Instead, he wants to be the captain of the ship, which means he'll have to figure out a way to get back to his own ship. He tells the pirate that they've taken a day off to travel around the world, and that the captain is enjoying his time off. The pirate, however, seems to have lost interest in the rest of the crew, and is not sleeping with them. Finn is worried that the hostess is getting undressed, and the pirate wants to find out what happened to the pirate, who was stabbed in the back. He tries to get the pirate to calm down, but the pirate won't listen. He grabs the pirate and pulls him away from them, and they're out of there. Finn tells the boy that if the pirate dies, he will die too, because he is Finn's only friend, and he will do anything to keep him alive. He asks the boy to write about his adventures, so that he can find out more about him. The boy refuses to listen to him, saying that he'd have to do it himself. He says that the ritual of changing blood isn't a gay thing, but a "manly thing" .
