The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Hiroshi. Hiroshi tells his mother that he's glad to see that she's doing OK. He's worried about his daughter, who he thinks is "a pain in the asses" . He asks his mother to meet his mentor, kakeru, who's also Hiroshi's boss at the bank. The two women agree that it's time for Hiroshi to "start over" with his daughter.
