When the elevator finally comes to a halt, the Governess asks the Elevatorman if there's something wrong. The Elevatorman tells her that the repairs will be made. The Governess sighs and says that she doesn't like the way he's acting. She's always kind to him, she says, and now she's afraid of what he'll do to her. He kisses her, and she trembles.
