About This Chapter
The chapter opens with the narrator explaining that he once bought a kitten in front of his school when he was little. Though his father was scolding him about it, it didn't bother him at all. He thought of what would come later, rather than what he would have with the kitten. He tells the story of how he woke up from his sleep to find that the kitten had been put back into its original position. He asks the kitten if he is sleepy, and the kitten responds that he can sleep in his arms. He then asks if the cat is sleeping, and she tells him that she woke up and found that the cat was still asleep. She then tells the kitten that they had put his organs back in their original places, and that he will be able to sleep in her arms. The kitten asks for a gift from Santa Claus, but the narrator tells him not to worry, as they will have enough socks for all of his gifts. They decide to raise the kitten, and then the kitten asks if they can kiss a lot. The narrator says that he likes kissing a lot, but if the kitten doesn't like it, he can be fine. They have to keep the kitten's hair away from his bedroom, because the kitten is allergic to it. They then decide to take the kitten to Santa Claus's house for a Christmas present, and he tells them that the timing is a bit tricky, but that they should have it with them. They walk back to the house and he asks when he got the present. He remembers when he went to a wedding, when he saw the bride
