The narrator tells the story of his childhood. He was afraid to lose his friends and family because he was afraid of expressing his true feelings. When he was a child, he was too afraid of losing people around him, so he would suppress his feelings. He asks the children if they would like to be his mother, and they all say yes. He tells them that the baby they saw earlier said that his mother was right, and that he would be happy to be her mother. He then asks if they were upset that their siblings had left, and the children tell him that they were. The narrator says that he does not know why, but when he is with the children, he wants to stay together. He says that his sister has tried to move the birth date quicker, but that she is neglecting her responsibilities. She knows that many have been hurt by her, and she thinks that people will understand her when she is no longer causing trouble
