In this chapter, we learn that the demon's identity is revealed to be that of a "d-mn-demon" . In other words, the demon is the one who stole the bell from Nemo's house. Nemo is upset that he has lost the bell, but he also realizes that he will not be able to return it to his family in the afterlife. He resolves to go to bed and forget about it.
