The Governess is bored with her life. She notices that the Governess's companion is behaving like a "lovesick squirrel" . She tells him to keep his distance from him all the time. He tells her that he has found a hundred-year-old mermaid pearl, which he fell for the night before. She asks him to take her along with him to deliver the pearl. The pearl was supposed to be delivered two days ago, but now she has to kneel before him.
