In this short scene, we learn that the crew of the capsule is worried about the safety of the man they have selected for the mission. The captain tells the man that they are worried about him because he has mutilated himself. He asks the man why he mutilated himself, and the man says that he had to "free himself from it" and that his soul belongs to his motherland. He tells the captain that he has lost his mind and that he will be dead in three days. The man tells him that he is free to live as he pleases, but that in fifteen days his wife will tell him that her love for him has ended. This will be the last time he will see his wife, and he will disappear into the "outside world"
