"Insufficient Data" The narrator tells us that he's heard nothing from the navy. He's been trying to call the family, but they're too busy to answer his calls. He says he'll call them in the morning, but that they should keep sending him familygrams, which will help him stay strong while he waits for his return. The narrator says he doesn't want to be too far away from his sister anymore. He wants to be a "freshwater sailor" or a "pencil pusher" , so he can come home to her every night. This is a girl, he says. She's about to be born, and the narrator is ready for anything. He picks a few names for her, and then he and his wife can decide what to name their child. "It's 300 percent names gotta go" . "Listen up," the narrator says, "now listen up, the military base of New London, groton." The military base is two miles east of London, so the narrator has to turn around and go two miles to the east. He hears a message from the USNS nebraska, which says that it's sunk in a "deep water cavity" and that 235 men are still alive.
