In this chapter, the main character explains that he left his hometown and went on a "journey of self" in order to find a new life. He tells the reader that the world has three major territories: the "fornst forest" is over here, the "volcane" and the "snow country" are on the opposite side. As soon as he leaves the forest, he says, he can only find "deserts" . This is why he needs to be equipped with a special skill massage. He says that the people in the forest rely on him to stay there a little longer, until they figure out the cause of the magic's ease. The main character asks if he uses magic, but he says that he doesn't use it because he's too old, too strong, and too smart to use it. He also says that even though he is in a strange world, he is able to speak to the people because he has the special skill to do so. He asks if there's any way he can use magic to communicate with the people, and he says he can't because he is too old and too strong to use magic. He then asks who the woman is, and she says that she is a merchant and that she needs to talk to him all night. She says that they need to talk about something, and that they should come to his place at night. The two men agree that it's best to figure out what's wrong with the magic so that everyone can be healed.
