This chapter's epigraph comes from a famous painting by the great artist da vinci. In this passage, we learn that the artist's secret room is hidden behind a wall. The wall collapses, and the whole house has to be rebuilt. This is the first time we've heard that the ulcer epidemic has been solved because of the presence of the demons in the church, which is why Florence is so bad. The only reason the guardians have to stop the church war is because the moment is the basis of time, and they need to extract it from the chaos of the moment. In other words, if the guardians are at war, they'll be at risk of being devoured by the church's demons.
