This chapter's epigraph comes from a line in The Shawshank Redemption. It's a line from the play's first chapter, in which Shawshank tells the audience that he's going to kill himself if he doesn't die. He's about to do so when he hears the sound of a woman's voice, and he realizes that it's the same voice that he heard when he killed himself. He realizes that the woman he killed was the same woman who killed him, and that she's been haunting him ever since.
