This chapter opens with Caius musing on the fact that his backtrack ability will only bring him back to the battlefield for a limited amount of time. He wonders if the enemy will scold him for being too eager for success. Caius wonders if this time, he will be able to bring the enemy back only three seconds. He then wonders if he can create a buffer zone outside of his body that will slow the enemy's attack and reduce the number of times they have to attack him. He calls this "the dark shield" and says that he will name this "black moment" as the shield. He asks Caius not to interfere in the business between Caius and his subordinate, the knight. He says that Caius is the seventh god of time, and that he is sorry for hurting Caius, but that he should not interfere with the gods of time's business. He promises to kill the enemy and make him eat some tasty food.
