The Governess explains that she has locked the door of the house so that no one will disturb them. She tells her daughter that she will bake a cake for her mother's birthday. She says that she made the cake herself and that she hopes that her mother will like it. She also says that today is her birthday too, and wishes her a happy birthday. When the Governess tells her that the cake belongs to her, she exclaims that she is the first person to wish her a birthday in the entire world. She then goes on to say that she and her daughter will meet again in another world and that they will definitely remember each other. She asks her daughter if she had a dream last night, and she replies that she did.
