About This Chapter
The ghost wanderer has caught up to them, proving their strength at the border. Pop Senior asks if he's feeling better, and the ghost wanderer tells him that he is. They're going back to the mountain, he says, and they'll be safe. He remembers when they captured the dog demon in hangzhou, and he remembers that all of the disciples of the sect were sent to the "youkai" , where they would undergo a "screening" to receive punishment. If they committed murder, they would have to pay the "lives they took" . In other words, if they committed a crime, they'd have to go to the secret prison valley for training and "redemption," where they could learn how to "rehabilitate" themselves. The dog demon has been in the prison for half a year, and it's not clear how he could be released. He's just a mere "dog demon," he says. If he doesn't get released, there's a "mole" in the valley, and that's what's going to happen to him. He wants to go back ASAP. The next morning, they return home, and Pop Senior is happy to be home. He tells his brother that they have to sneak into the monster valley to protect themselves from the mole.
