In this scene, zhu and Magua are reunited. Magua tells Magua that he will pay for all of the expenses of the dance. He also tells him that zhu has been sick for five days, and that Magua is worried about him. He urges Magua to hold onto Magua, but Magua reminds him that the master is thinking about the ling-er, and he should not hold onto him anymore. He says that if Magua slaps Magua's mouth, he will be able to hypnotize him again. He then asks xianghe to stay at the dance, since the master has already told him to. . He tells his sister that he has heard that a mysterious banquet is being held at a tavern in the south of town. He asks her if she would like to go, and she says that she would, but that it would look awkward if she did not go. She says that even if she went to the banquet, there would be a low chance she would bump into Magua. She also says that the tavern is very famous, and even if a singer like Magua were to go there, she would not be welcome. She adds that even though Magua might be a singer, there is a chance he might bump into her.
