The next morning, Lin learns that the man who reported to Dujian was actually Teng Miao, a former student of Lin and his brother's. Lin explains that they have long suspected that this man was able to control Dujian's body, but that he has been concealing this fact so that they also have been deceived. Lin tells his brother that he now has a plan. He has received word that the village in which Lin's teacher lives has been attacked by Dujian, and that most of the people in the village have been caught. Lin wants to help the people who have been affected by the attack, since he still wants to eat vegetables grown by the old gyps.
