The police officer arrives at the hospital to discharge Gu from the hospital. He tells Gu that there are still no leads left in the case, and that Gu's hand is injured, not his feet. Gu tells his father that he's going to touch his things, but that he can only do so with a person he hates. The village chief explains that the village had several cases of disappearances and strange diseases. The old buildings in the village were well preserved, but at first they suspected that illegal activity was involved but after investigating they found out that all the old people died naturally. The villagers knock on the door, looking for Dehai guan. The chief tells them that according to the files, he should have been in his late 30s. Gu is confused, and asks if they know about the "cave monster incident." The chief says that back then, the files indicated that the two men were in their 30s but that they looked older than they actually were. Gu asks if this could possibly be related to the high mortality rate of nursing homes and the village's premature aging, and the chief answers that it could be.
