In this chapter, the chief explains that the two worlds are not on the same paper, but that they are different worlds. He explains that a meteor struck one side of the paper and caused the other side to collide with it. The two worlds were able to open the gap between them because of the amount of energy in the meteor. The chief also explains that it was impossible to detect the meteor because it landed on the opposite side of their world.
