About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to the corpse of the sheep-wolf, who has been dead for nine years. He is now dressed in the clothes of the wolf, and his grandfather is searching for his brother, da-Qing, who is now ten years older than he was when he was last alive. He asks his grandfather if he has seen his brother anywhere, and the old man replies that he has not shaved yet, and that he hasn't grown so big. The old man is surprised to learn that his son has been sleeping for 10 years, and he wonders why he has grown so large. He also inquires about his father and mother, and learns that his mother was killed by her father. He wonders if he would have been like his father, and if he had forgotten everything about his mother. He then wonders if the sheep king has elected a new king recently, and wonders whether he would be like his mother and father. If he had not been born, he wonders, he would no longer be carried on his shoulders by his brother. He wants to find his "best friends," and if they can't be found, he wants to look like an irresponsible person.
