The girl tells him that the competition is going well, and that it will give her an opportunity to see changes in the man who is behind her. She tells him to stop asking, and he agrees. He tells the girl that he thinks the reason she is not in love with him is that she is choosing beauty over reason. He says that if she were to confess to him, he would be filled with courage, and the girl would be able to convince him that she loves him more than he loves her. He agrees to cancel the competition.
