In this chapter, we learn more about the relationship between Cai Ling and Man Qian. Cai Ling's roommate, Man Qian, has been spending a lot of time with Cai Ling, and she's worried about what's going to happen when she gets back from the club. She's also worried about whether or not Cai Ling will be able to get close enough to Man Qian to make up for the fact that he's been following her every step of the way. So, she asks Cai Ling to confess to her. She wants to know why Cai Ling hasn't confessed to her yet. He tells her that he used to be the one who was always following her, but since the two men showed up, all of Man Qian's thoughts are about the two of them. He's helping her to make sure that she doesn't have to worry about those two men. He also tells Cai Ling that if he can make Man Qian believe that he can get close to her, then she'll stop worrying about the other two people. He warns Cai Ling not to use his jokes to make her think that he has opened his valve and released all his air. He says that the beautiful scene ofhangzhou isn't nearly as beautiful as the scene from last time, but that's because there's something else going on. He then asks if Cai Ling is worried that the show will be canceled if the inspection fails, because everyone's performances are so unique.
